Whole Child Martin
In 2002 the Children’s Services Council of Martin County (CSCMC) made a commitment to creating a comprehensive service delivery system. To achieve that outcome, CSCMC recognized the need for a comprehensive assessment of the current service delivery system that would not only evaluate the state of children in Martin County but also would identify and eliminate gaps and duplications of services where necessary.
CSCMC partnered with the United Way of Martin County and the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties to fund the Martin County Whole Child Project. The purpose of this multi-year project was to evaluate the state of the well being of children 0-18 years of age and to assess the current service delivery system. This assessment included the identification of gaps in services, duplication of services and a full review of all the resources entering the community to fund these efforts.
In 2004, the Whole Child Connection became a targeted-funding initiative of CSCMC. The purpose is to improve access and promote utilization of services for children 0-18 years of age and their families through a seamless delivery system of care and services for children and families. The Whole Child Connection System acts as a preventative measure to ensure that children and families are presented with a holistic approach that considers the history of the parents, the physical environment in which the family lives, the social and spiritual connections that help sustain and support the family.
Since May 2006 the Whole Child Connection System has had:
- Over 650 families complete a Whole Child Profile and been referred to the appropriate Service Provider in Martin County.
- Whole Child Profiles completed by families generate the following referrals:
- Health - 47%
